Social Context unit is concerned with understanding the complex nature of education and explores the meaning of ‘education’ and the purposes of an education system. This unit covers the historical development of British education, issues relating to inequality and social justice and the role of education and training in modern industrial societies. This unit will provide you with the skills to be able to critically evaluate theoretical concepts underpinning education and training. It also helps you to critically analyse the education system, its purposes and functions.
